Food Relief Initiative – Ikota Community
PLAH supports initiatives that provide essential assistance to vulnerable households. One such initiative is a food relief program implemented in partnership with the Lagos Business School Alumni of the Advanced Management Program and the Project Ark Initiative.
Through this program, 150 low-income families in the Ikota community of Lagos State received food packs containing staple items such as rice, beans, garri, cooking oil and other essentials. The distribution was carried out through coordinated volunteer teams working directly within the community to reach households most in need.
The initiative involved structured planning, volunteer mobilization and community coordination to ensure that support reached underserved households fairly and efficiently. In addition to food items, hygiene products donated by partners were also distributed to promote improved household health and sanitation.
This intervention demonstrates how collaboration between donors, volunteers and community organizations can deliver timely support while strengthening transparency and accountability in humanitarian assistance.
